Norman Walsh, born July 20th, 1931 in Bolton, was inspired by the rugged terrain of the Peak and Pennines to create the Pennine Adder in the late 1960s—the first mountain running shoe. Its success led to a collaboration with fell-running legend Pete Bland, resulting in the Walsh PB in 1970, the world’s first fell-running shoe.
